With a bit of a luck luster winter thus far for us Utahans, images of the pow-days of yesteryear are running through my head. Because I can’t really give you my head I decided to spend some putting together a few ski days from last year.

When Mt Hood gets 50 inches of fresh snow in 96 hours, there’s really only one thing to do: Work like devils M-Th and then carpool the whole team up to the hill bright and early Friday morn. And? Well, yeah, we got some fresh tracks. We paid crazy money for bad food and drink. We tore up that mountain like it ain’t never been tore before.
The pictures tell the story, but (in the spirit of Struck’s recent Addy haul) it’s wise to dish a few special recognitions:
Best tumble: Jed (skis top of hill, skier bottom of hill—nice!)
Best trivia questions: Jessie (via Mental Floss mag)
Best Bison Dog: No bison dog
Best beardcicles: Eric
Best costume: Danny’s WTO protester-style bandanna
What? You don’t like this post? You think it’s all just insensitive blather designed to point out the fact that you weren’t on the mountain during the best day of the year? Well, we can’t argue with that. As Gilly would say … Sorry.

I don’t know if it’s the helmets, the dirt on our faces, or the pile of bikes littered about as if we tossed them with so much reckless abandon—but this crew of Struckers (and our gracious Deer Valley
Truth told, we rarely strayed from the intermediate trails and the biggest challenge of the day was finishing off the ridiculously scrumptious desserts at the Royal Street Café
(you’ve gotta try the Ice Cream Sandwich… you’ve just gotta). Anyway… massive thanks and much love to our comrades at DVR for hooking up the most radical morning of the summer.watch harry potter and the sorcerer s stone in divx
Well actually, it’s a bunch of Struckers. Yesterday, MAY-GOSH-DARN-FOURTH, was a day of Spring skiing that left Struckers Jon Minori and Brandon Knowlden wanting nothing more than a few extra vacation days. The air was warm and the skiing was good, but on our way to the car, lo-and-behold, a kicker. It was so pretty, just glistening in the sun and begging to be owned. Jon flipped forwards and I flipped backwards and to round it all out, Jon’s brother Josh, was hookin’ up some sweet flat spins.

Let it be known: this is how Struck rolls.
So recently I took the ride of terror on the bob sled at the Winter Sports Park. WOW (not World of Warcraft WOW) but WOW as in amazing. My wife increases our life insurance policy and then I get a B-Day present to go bob sledding (interesting… interesting). A 54 second ride of terror that had me holding on for dear life. We almost hit 80 MPH and I would have liked to look around, but my head was being pelted into the guys back in front of me at the tune of 6 G’s. Other than that it was a rush. It was cool and to top it all off the guy to the left (our driver) is Pat Brown. Who is Pat Brown? If you have seen the movie Cool Runnings about the Jamaican bob sled team then you know John Candy played a coach named Pat Brown. It’s a small world after all.
The Upper Struckers recently converged on Snowbird Resort for the annual Struck Managers Meeting. We came. We were trained. We conquered. And for the second year in a row, the most beginner-skier of the bunch got ditched on the slopes!
It’s hard to comprehend that almost 8 feet of snow has fallen in the last seven days out here. At times it’s hard to focus on your day job while its dumping freshies outside. When the weekend comes it’s time to saddle up and ride!
