who still uses phone books anyway?

our new-biz-whiz, spencer taggart, that’s who. at least that’s the assumption someone made by a few creatives in the slc office today. you see, over the weekend, the phone company mistakenly made us the benefactor of about 3 dozen or so phone books. although their intended recipient was unclear, it was pretty obvious to us – the guy who makes all the phone calls. right?

triathlon schmiathlon

in the spirit of self sacrifice, discipline and maybe a little ego, a bunch of us have been talking about pounding out a triathlon for some time now. we swam, we biked, we did a little here a little there, but this past saturday was the day we put our money where our mouths are.

the battle at midway was most certainly a battle. with an official distance of a 1500 meter swim, 22 mile bike ride and a 5.9 mile run. there were seven of us that manned- and womanned-up for this little bout with insanity and we can be proud to say that we ALL finished. needless to say, we obviously repped the hammer wilst on our journey. a special shout out to the man, the myth, the legend, adam luptak for having a swim time 10 seconds behind the #1 triathlete in utah.

Those of you that are familiar with our work are most certainly familiar with Phil’s work. What you may not be privy to is that fact that Phil does a ton of resizes for the ad team. Well this morning, Phil woke up and thought “not anymore.”

THESE IS JOKES PEOPLE !!! For the last two days we’ve been on production for a tv shoot and it just so happens that one of the spots involves a brand new BMW, a stunt man and a gun fight.

Phil, we know you’re nuts, but keep your mental illness at home son.

hey everybody, i’m finally staying at a hostel with free computers and wanted to give you some updates on my travels. from the above list, you can see that i have made it to 10 cities in my first month and have no intentions of slowing down. well actually, i do. nick, you were right and my rail pass is running out quickly. any whosey-what’s-it, i wanted to tell the tale of the travels with a few photos from my last few cities.

the wilten basilica

wilten

this big guy was really impressive. towering above the innsbruck landscape, this building was built in the 1650’s, and more recently, in 2008 it served as a beautiful backdrop for a picture of brandon knowlden.

wow, how cool is this?

art

so this picture is of an art installation slightly off the beaten path in downtown innsbruck. apparently, the bulbs of large stadium jumbotrons have pixels the size of a three month old baby (its a fact, google it). so whomever said artist of this piece is, they took said jumbo pixels and arranged them much closer to humans than ever needed, hence the level of excellence demonstrated above. the piece changes colors and pulsates like digital raindrops.

venice is everything you think it would be

venice

i left from innsbruck, austria south for venice, italy the other day. the ride was amazing and the train went through the heart of the bologna wine country. mile after mile of buildings forcing themselves upon the rugged landscape only to be confronted by acres of aspiring grape vines. i got to venice as the sun was going to sleep and immediately hit the town. as you can see, venice is amazingly beautiful. its difficult residential lifestyle is evident by it’s population of only 60,000 (compared to its 7 million visitors per year. wait, correction, 7 million + 1).

some fresh ass wine son Behind Enemy Lines download

wine

so i heard italy was known for great wine and great food, not true. its known for slap you in the face, knocked that touristy american smirk off your face kind of food and wine. case in point, the image above. i met a few australian girls in the supermarket and before our picnic in the parco de publica (public park), they took me to the little gem seen above. tip for travelers, in venice, when you see a store filled with awkward casks and tubes, its typically a fresh-wine bar. this man and his shop represented a vineyard from the bolognese region of italy. the great thing about this wine is that it is never bottled until you get it in your hands, so no preservatives or sulfates or anything. the large casks are different varieties of the freshest wine available. sure it isn’t mature, but it tastes like squeezing heaven into your mouth. and best of all, its only €2/bottle (about $3 USD).

don’t mess with mythology

perseus

the first picture in this post is from atop the duomo in florence, italy. if you ever have an opportunity, its one of the most impressive things i have ever done. the cattedrale (cathedral), built in 1296, boasts a 463 step walk up a narrow winding staircase to an inspiring view. the cathedral was designed to be so impressive that the massive dome was ignored during construction because the technology didn’t even exist to construct it. but on to the picture above, the perseus statue. this 18 foot statue was artfully constructed by cellini and depicts perseus slaying medusa and standing on her contorted body. the wings perseus is known for (can be seen on his feet and head) are a constant symbol in greek mythology. and although it is based on the goddess nike, greek mythological wings are the interpretation in the most recognizable lgoo on the planet, the nike swoosh. its called knowledge son, get some.

so goodbye for now, until next time my friends.

Eight hours ahead? C'mon…

Hello world, and hello Struck.

It’s your friend Brandon. As Struck knows, but I’m sure the world doesn’t care, I will be traveling abroad for the next few months. And my first landing was smack dab in the middle of London. It’s quite beautiful and as soon as I figure out how to hack the advanced network of computer cafe trickery my hostel has so graciously provided, I will post pictures along with the tales of my adventures. So for this first post, I just want to complain, nay comment, on the eight hour time difference from Salt Lake City to London. Seriously? Is this really necessary? I feel like I was just forced to watch a 24-hour marathon of the View. Oh, the panini is great and inexpensive meal, but they are made in the morning and sit out ALL-DAY. For the sake of your small intestine, don’t have one for dinner.

*** UPDATE ***

So I am now at the Apple store in Piccadilly Circus (downtown London), and have acquired more than the Cold War technology possessed by my hostel. Anyway, give a look, below is where I’m staying. My disdain is actually my dry sense of humour coming through, its actually quite beautiful. Until next time…

Beyond Re-Animator video Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 trailer

Whore aka Yo puta dvdrip
So my bud, known only by the moniker “Baltz”, sent me this photo and simply asked “Blog it yo!” Well my technologically awkward friend, your loss is my gain. Since I have no idea what this photo is – in any regard – I’ll just make it up.

I’m not sure how, but Baltz woke up in the Caribbean, because he sure as hell wasn’t at work last week. I think he had a vacation coming, but who knows. Anyhow, I heard from a police report that he stole this kid from a local swap meet and decided to go fishing. They apparently caught these fish, which was great because there was no way he would buy this kid any food. I heard from a friend that the look on this kid’s face was because about ten seconds before this photo was taken, the barracuda bit him pretty hard.

Baltz: “I already set the timer”

Kid: “but Mr., I’m bleeding”

Baltz: “… you had better not ruin my shot”

Kid: “Sorry Mr.”
